REPORT: Shaving the Crests of Khazna Vol 2 (Sat 10/11 AM ADV)

57297656-3312-4C97-A883-832C25BF3934

Due to a last minute cancellation, only 2 vehicles met at the deflation point at 8am. The convoy order was therefore very simple:

  • Michal (Flaghunter) - lead
  • Geert - second lead & sweeper :)

We enjoyed a beautiful Saturday morning, cruised through Khazna Rollercoaster dunes towards Sweihan. We proceeded carefully (since there was only 2 cars) but still in advance style. We practiced high dunes side sloping, loads of side cresting, and a few big bowl entries and exits. We covered a total distance of 67km and finished the trip safely by noon. The cars behaved and driver(s) did well, only 2 stucks towards the end on tops of some crests.

Thanks Geert for joining. Next time guys, if the trip isn't cancelled, it is on! See you soon!

Thanks Michal for an excellent lead and nice track. With such a short convoy it was easy to make good distance in this area with nice high dunes. Thanks for the opportunity to let me do some more advance recoveries, including winch recovery. I had plenty of chances to improve on my side cresting this trip and I'm starting to feel real progress. The bowls were interesting, where the ESC system decided to override despite the fact it was turned of. Removing the fuse improved the situation and at least ABS behaved afterward. Back from the bowls to the inflation point was still a nice fast track with plenty of side crests. Pity there was no marshal present to sign me off but it was a great drive anyway. Cheers, Geert
