Morning BuTais Adavance Drive - 27th Apr

Thank you to all who joined this trip, we had the following drivers:

Shoni (Alex) - 4Runner
vpuiul (Vlad) - 4Runner
Kane (Farhan) - Prado
dreamerEtS (Andrei) - FJ Cruiser

We started early with all the drivers meeting at BuTais gate by 6:45am, it was foggy to start with so we had a slower start than anticipated, immediately we started to the dunes and drove eastward for around 10km before cutting south towards BuTais Star Dune. As this was the first time for me driving this direction it was great to see some wonderful dunes as soon as we exited the gatch and means we didn’t have to drive 13km down the gatch before starting our drive.

We reached BuTais star dune after 9am but we started to notice an issue on one of the 4Runners, which the Toyota techs on our drive tried to fix but seemed to be be something we couldn’t resolve. The best option we decided after 10am was to head back along the gatch to the gate. All the drivers on this trip did an amazing job in the dunes, through the large bowls and also the technical dunes we crossed to avoid the Sabkha. Very impressed with everyone’s level and competency in the dunes and with the varied terrain due to the recent rains.

We exited to the gate and reached just after 11am.
