Abu Sallaf - Sweihan 11. Feb - Report

Post by Frank »

So now the late report. Thanks god I am online again after several weeks.

I send the coordinates for the meetingpoint every member. But it was in different formats.
One member I had to help a little and one complete. No problem at the end all members were on time.

Thabit called me Friday morning if he can join. Of course but his car decide at the meeting point not to go.
Thabit hope the car is fine again.

We hit the sand found nice tricky spots, soft areas, nice crests etc.

Urs and Tobias had the order not to help the intermediates if they have a stuck. Thank you both for that you didnt help them automatically.
Why they had the order not to help ? The intermediate should do it by there own. Of course when it was dangerous or the intermediates need help than both helped.
My experience was that a lot intermediates are waiting for the marshal to do the recovery. BS you have to learn it. You have also to learn to work as a team and use your radio when you need help.

Special thx to bluiser who showed us a popout. Here also the intermediate had to do it. They did well and they worked together but not every intermediate was interested to fix the popout. I dont know if he had a lot in the past and has the knowledge.

Amit: thx for second lead.
- v-, jp, bluiser, actros : nice to meet you.
dessert_hawk: thx to be my sweeper and that andrea could be your copilot.

urs, cypershot : thx for the cavalarie and I heard that your guests enjoyed the trip.

for me and my wife and my dog was it a very nice day with very nice people.

see you all next time

Thanks Frank for a good trip, it was a good experience - worked out how to use my new GPS, got to show my Danish visitor some nice UAE sand and met some very nice people.
The sand was chalenging in places and we had some stucks (not the Jeep of course :D ) everyone was working well together towards the end after a pop out and a few recoveries..

Look forward to more desert driving very soon!

Thanks again Actros (Daniel)

Na Frak welcome back online.

At first I ended up somewhere in the Pacfic. Found it a bit weird for deflation.

Packed my eager pax in the LC and off to the deflation. Lesson one: Do not load any sand in my Land Cruiser! Must say it was only a dream and at the end I sat in the sand driving on sand.

I had to produce some nice stucks for my pax so they could feel the AD4x4 family spirit. And they were avid.

Nice trip in a good area with great people and three Gazelles.

See you all next time

Thank you Frank for this awesome trip!!

The route was very well chosen and very smooth with good combination from tip-surfing and cresting. Also beautiefull landscape.

I had nice recoveries and my first experience how it might feel to get ripped in 2 pieces. (Land Cruiser at the rear and Hyundai in the front hook)

See you soon again in the sand.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for a great trip last Friday. We thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the learning opportunities of popouts and recoveries. I have uploaded a few pics to the galley. Hope to see all again soon.
