TRIP REPORT Khasab & Dolphin watching April 12/13/14

Post by Mpenzi »

What a wonderful trip.
The group was devided into two group. The Thursday group and Friday group not to mentioned the guys who left earlier on Thurday.
The thursday group left AbuDhabi for Khasab in the eveining at 4:00 pm and arrived at Khor Najd at arounf 8:30 pm
The Friday group Left Abu Dhabi very ealy in the morning to meet with the group at 10:00 am in Khasab ready for Musandam Dhow trip.
To reach Khasab was an adventure by itself as we encourtred traffic not only in Sharjah but RAK by the mining area Terrible but this was soon forgotten when we commenced driving and enjoying the view and the FJORD.
The way to Khor Najd was exciting and the camp spot area was breath taking

The Dhow trip was the highlight of this trip. The trip was relaxing and there were many stories told and the Dolphins.....we saw a few but enought to see these amazing creatures

Would like to thank you all for joining this unforgivable trip and bare with warmer nights.
Hope you can see more pictures on the gallery when it is open

A great trip, Tonto and I left early on Thursday morning and had a good drive up to Khasab, the coastal route from the border post is stunning, and the local people so friendly. As we were early we continued up to the Military post in Wadi Khasab, a pretty tough drive in places. We saw the green plateau, filled with goats and sheep, and later on we came across a huge Eagle drinking from a pond which slowly flew away as we tried to get a good photo  We returned to Khor Al Najd to await Mpenzi and Dennis who arrived quite late. Soooooooooooooooo hot in the night, like trying to sleep in a Sauna, but rudley awoken at dawn by 2-3 huge gusts of wind which brought Dennis's tent down on his head  An early swim then met up with the Friday team, a really relaxing day on the Dhow in beautiful Fjords. Back to camp for BBQ & camp fire, then another hot, steamy night in the tent. A weary drive back to AD. Thanks to all for your company and thanks to Mpenzi for organising the trip. :mountain:

Miss a good Dhow trip. Man, the Dhow took us around main 5 islands including the Famous Telegraph island where in 1864 the British built a telegraph station on the island. They laid a underwater cable that connected Basra and India.

The other good thing about the trip is the snorkelling gear which was supply with the boat, Each spot we landed was more interesting than the one before.
Also the Lunch water and soft drinks were provided and it was very nice

Bulldozer, The Mussandam peninsula is described as the Fjords of Arabia, Fjord is a Norwegian word and means: A steep walled inlet of a sea caused by Glacial Gouging. That concludes todays lesson. Thanks. :ann:

I can't add to Mpenzi's description of the week-end, he is spot-on. Magnificient views, beautiful corals and fishes of all colours :swimshark: , man, it was great ... and hot --> :raining: this was inside my tent at night

BTW, the route 311 now goes all the way to RAK, it took us one hour less to get back home than to get there

Mpenzi, I owe you a few :cheers1:, I won't forget.

Thanks again for a wonderful trip and great company.
