Trip Report Intermediates Sweihan 28 Feb

12 drivers met up at Sweihan farm, Gate 12 at 2PM, myself, Asif Padela, bisharbn, mihir6066, Kamran143, loefflmj1, Redbeard, Matts, snaware, Mytommi, udo and Alexanderlea. This was the first intermediate drive with the club for Udo, Mihir6066, Matts and Redbeard, therefore we started out with basic practicing of side sloping on some smaller dunes, which went excellent, followed by some bigger slopes. All did really good so we took aim for the Old Lady dune close to Al Ain airport, where the trip was scheduled to end.

We kept good pace towards the power lines, made a couple of breaks, quickly fixed one popup and watched nice self-recovery from Udo who somehow had ended up in a hole with his FJ . Eventually met up with some local guys from Al Ain, out smashing dunes with more or less modified Patrols, they kindly invited us for Arabic coffee and sweets at the base of Old Lady, which we gladly accepted. This was very nice end of a very nice trip. Would like to thank the support, Kamran as second lead, Mark and Asif as sweeper. Well done everybody, especially the “first-timers”, was a good flow.

Really great flow to this intermediate drive. Such good drivers. Couple new grey hairs. But everyone enjoyed and learned. First popout for someone. Careful around Old Lady, lots of Patrols running around so support team did great guiding us all through it. Great communication. Met some of the kindest and most gracious locals. We all went home thrilled and enriched (some more than others though - hehe).

Thanks Thomas for setting a great track, really enjoyed sweeping for the convoy. Thomas made the AD4x4 marshal's look real good by accepting a fun from the locals to drive up the Old Lady from a flat start! Let's just say the locals were thrilled, and so was Thomas ! Mark was a great support ensuring we all stayed together, especially when the Patrols starting cutting into the convoy. Everyone did a great job, see you guys next time!
