Trip Report for Bu Tais Intermediate Trip 26-June-2020 - 2nd Convoy

Marshal Thomas had to call in the reserves after Marshal Matt ran into some issues. We missed him. After a short brief, convoy order set, and radio check, we took off into the heat of the late day. The plan established earlier was to parallel the 1st convoy to Tree Dune and then to a much further waypoint even further east. We soon discovered our usual delightful Bu Tais was criss-crossed with bulldozed “roads” all over the place. After taking care of an early Hummer popout (great job Medhat, Ahmad and Rene), we arrived at Tree Dune for a short break. Continuing east, still more bulldozer tracks. The lead was handed over to Rene and things began to open up and finally a flow began. Again good work Rene. Around sunset we met up with the 1st convoy and enjoyed the view. The first convoy headed directly to the subkah but we were not ready to pack it in just yet. That’s when we got the opportunity to exercise our recovery knowledge on a tricky one, but the Chief supervised well. Rene started getting nervous concerning daylight so we made a quick dash for the subkah and we were out of the dunes and heading back. It was nice to out again, first time since February and lead no less. Thanks everyone for a good trip. Everyone did well. Sorry for the lack of good flow the whole time but hopefully next time will be better. Nice to see everyone.
