Exploring Upper Bu Tais #6 take 2: 30/1/21

Due to last minute unforeseen vehicle issues (good luck with the repairs guys), the convoy became a small tight group of four with Nick as second lead, Florian as sweep and Michal as roving support. Anticipating completion of our exploration task we set off and swiftly got into a rhythm to improve technical driving skills that combined ascents and descents with rollercoasting sideslopes. We completed our drive along the Upper Bu tais range and drove south to the main Bu tais dunes. After a break for a mid-drive chat and refreshments we set off back towards our starting point along a new set of dunes. We continued driving around and over the bigger dunes of Bu tais while always looking for clean sand until we arrived back at the inflation point just after 3pm having covered just shy of 100km for the day.

Both intermediates drove very well, showing good skill and approaching readiness for the next level. It was a pleasure to see the return of marshal Michal and having him keeping an eye on us all. As usual, the popouts, stucks and repeated tries were all part of the day’s fun and learning, and as always, handled safely and with good humour.

Now that the exploration drives are complete, many new fun trips for different levels are waiting to be had.

Thank you Michael for this amazing trip, your leading was top class as always. Exploration trips are the best, we managed to find quite a few pristine places! Well done Nick and Florian, this was a challenging intermediate++. I needed 10 hours of sleep to recover from this weekend
