Badayer Intermediate with Tilki DXB - Trip Report

Post by tilki »

All met at Badayer at around 2pm.
At 2:30pm we finished the briefing and set on with the following convoy positions:

tilki - Lead
SandSailor - Second Lead
Amr21
Abusara007 - Sweeper
Ramesh arrived but due to technical difficulties went on the Newbie trip as a passenger.
MD joined us at the BBQ Point with his amazing food :D
Chief Khaiwi and Gabor - Support Team

We followed Gabor's coordinates which helped me plan the route ahead of the trip. Gabor sent me 13 good locations.
We visited all 13 points in the span of 3 and a half hours, without anyone getting stuck or being recovered.

Intermediate drivers should be proud of themselves.
They drove through large dunes and a few technical dunes with succession.
I must also mention that the second lead and others handled tall dunes well, without fighting gravity and safely coming down from the dune that they could not climb.

Thank you Gabor for reminding us of common driving mistakes during the trip, as well as supporting our sweeper.
Chief Khaiwi was always watching and supporting the convoy throughout the trip, with his fantastic Jeep. :D
We had a lot of straight crests to help improve Newbie skills. All of them managed the sharp dunes perfectly

As predicted, at 6:05pm we met at the Badayer BBQ point. We then waited for the Newbie's to arrive.
We had our Iftar dinner at the BBQ point until 12am, having coffee tea and Kunafa.
Thank You to everyone that brought food and drinks, it was all very delicious enjoyable.
It was very nice to see our friends: Bulldozer, Sai, Abdoo, Mustafa, Atari and everyone.
Hopefully we can have our great conversation next trip.

Amr21 could not find his Logbook for the signature, hopefully you found it by now! :D

Thank you all for an enjoyable trip and see you soon!

Thanks you very much Tilki, Chief Khaiwi and Gabor for another educational and fun trip.

We did both large dunes and also some technical area, a nice combination at a certain tempo. Lots of practice including high climbs, straight crests and sharp dunes. From distancing between the cars in different conditions to making good calls based on variables were all part of the discussions during brakes, the education process which I really appreciated and enjoyed. Gabor - you are man of few but wise words, thanks for all the help! Having Chief Khaiwi watching us over the higher dunes was definitely assuring.

One self recovery -but a good photo opp!- and a few second tries based on good calls, overall pretty satisfying drive.

A great ending at the BBQ point meeting the whole team. Couldn't stay long for the Iftar (and kunafa) which marks the only disappointment of the day 🤗

See you all again on the sand soon...
