The trip was supported by:
- Marshal: Emdoc
- Expert: Cantaloube
All drivers meet at Sweihan Gate 12 @ 06:30, where we deflated and did the pre-trip briefing before starting at around 06.45.
The convey order was:
- Lead: The Baron (René)
- 2nd lead; Ayfas (Shajumon)
- cmj1388 (Chrismon)
- Florian (Tomat)
- Redbeard (Mikkel)
- Sweeper; Mr Magoo (Rob)
Marshal EmDoc supported from the passenger seat of the lead (due to car trouble) and Expert Cantaloube from the back.
We started warming up, climbing and side cresting on the larger dunes near the deflation point, which were a challenging start but all did well and only a couple of second try’s.
10 minutes into the trip. Marshal Emdoc had an engine problem and decided to leave his car and support the trip from the passenger seat of the lead. Rare treat being given so much live support and feedback - much appreciated, Michael.
After the warm-up, we practiced side sloping and switching on a large free standing dune, before heading east towards Old Lady dune. Reduced the pace and difficulties slightly to give a free flowing drive, which also have the lead and drivers an opportunity to practice finding the natural approach angles for the dunes.
The convey reached the Old Lady dune, which turned out not to be the old ladies dune (trip lead to update his waypoints
, where all had some playtime, whilst Mikkel’s passenger capturing it from above with his drone (thanks for sharing the video, Jens).
As the convey started moving towards Nagrah Hill, Mikkel experienced mechanical problems with his car and we decided to cut the trip short and head back towards the inflation point, using the near by gatch road.
A very enjoyable trip and all drivers did really great, showing good control of the cars.
