Relaxation in Bu Tais / Advance / 22 Oct ‘21
Posted: Sat Oct 23, 2021 9:03 am
The trip was supported by:
- Marshal: EmDoc (Michael)
- Expert: Cantaloube (John)
All drivers meet at the Bu Tais gates at 07:00, where we deflated and did the trip briefing.
There were a few late cancellations, so was a small group with only one advance driver (Mahar) and Marshal EmDoc supported the briefing and gave Mahar a short 101 briefing.
Left the meeting point at 07:30 and headed for the Sabina.
The convey order was:
- Lead: The Baron (René)
- 2nd lead; Cantaloube (John)
- Mhamidi001 (Mahar)
- Sweeper; EmDoc (Michael)
We entered the sand after the sabkha and headed east, parallel to the dunes, practicing climbing and side cresting.
We stopped for a break at Bu Tais Tree Dune, which unfortunately is not the same tranquil place it used to be - full of tracks and ‘oasis’ has almost disappeared.
Michael took the lead for a section of the drive, which benefited both Maher and the lead.
Had a couple of second tries during the trip and a stuck (by the lead…), and a pop-out (by the marshal…) and left the desert shortly after 11:00.
It was a really nice morning drive and Mahar did great keeping up and learning.
Thanks to Michael and John for the support and to Mahar for joining the trip.
Till next time.
