advance trip of January 15th afternoon at BU TAIS

Report of the advance trip of January 15th afternoon at BU TAIS

A nice downwind advance trip, my first lead without any support.

The convoy consisted of :
Myself "John" Leader
Maher (second lead) - JK
Hazim - 4 runner
Matts - FJ
Paul - F150 (sweeper)

After a safety briefing and a reminder of crests driving we set off for the Butais Trees area. There was a lot of wind on the way which made it difficult to climb the dunes and drive on their crests.
We did manage to cross many crests that were well sharpened by the wind, and then some very high ones that required good power management to reach.

We went through Butais trees, the wind had its effect, no tracks, the crests were far from perfect.

Everyone drove very well, even when we were sometimes completely blinded by the wind on the heights. After a few second attempts, a pop out and a stuck, mine, we made it back to the finish on time.

Maher made a very good second lead and Paul was the back sweeper. Good to see Matts again, it's been a while and first time with me for Hazim who drove safely.

Thanks to all the marshals for teaching me how to drive safely and serenely.
It was a real pleasure to drive this trip. See you on the sand.

John
