We met at 08:00 h in the morning at the deflation point. Due to some late changes in the waiting list some drivers probably didn’t notice, not everyone registered for the trip arrived. So in the end we were 5 aspiring intermediate drivers and 4 Marshals.

After deflation and trip & safety briefing we rolled down the gatch road into the sand to the left. We started with some easier slopes to warm up and later increased the fun with higher side-slopes and some technical driving. Everyone did very well and only I got myself stuck twice.

When we came back to the gatch road we came across a herd of camels shepherd by a Mitsubishi Pajero from the 1980ies. Lots of photos were taken before crossing the gatch and entering the area to the West.
Here the sand was completely different. Whereas on the East side the sand was just dry and soft as normal here the sand was wet and firm from the rain that fell in the last couple of weeks and yesterday.

We meandered at a high pace through the beautifully dark dunes until we turned to the North to reach again the starting point, this time to finish the trip just before 11:30h.

It was a very interesting trip with totally different terrains and sand condition. Thanks Ahmed, Jean and Michael for supporting the trip and Surya and Martin for second leading and sweeping respectively.

Ah, And Ahmed again thanks for providing us with refreshment including oranges.
