Exploration drive from Wagan to Razeen

Due to a variety of factors we didn't quite manage to meet on time and 2 were unfortunately unable to join the trip. Thanks for letting us know.

After a briefing explaining how the recent rains would alter driving conditions and the sun behind us, we set off to explore a lesser visited area of Wagan heading towards Razeen.

The first section with its high climbs bowl-in-bowl technical areas clearly demonstrated the changes to driving style needed to safely negotiate the terrain after the rains.

Soon however, a rhythm was found and we started to slope and crest our way along the dune range. About halfway we stopped to fully admire the magnificent scenery and enjoy a chat and some refreshments. After our break we continued on our way managing to cover half of the range before heading to an inflation point at 5pm.

Given the unfamiliar desert driving conditions, all drivers adjusted well, and made sure safety principals were followed.

There were stucks and second tries aplenty for the photo opportunities and practice of recovery techniques.

Thanks to all that joined, it was a pleasure driving with you. And a very big thanks to the support crew for inspiring confidence and helping to manage the convoy throughout the long drive

Beautiful place, beautiful course. Thank you Michael, everyone drove very well despite the quality of the sand.

For most of us this was an unforgettable and altogether different driving experience. This was partly due to the substantially higher dunes and bigger bowls in combination with the very special sand condition.
The track after 3 or 4 cars often looked like a freshly ploughed field.

It was also a spectacular feast for the eye, with the dark sand dunes in many different shades combined with the blue sky, white clouds and clear air.

Indeed a great day and special drive… would have greatly missed if I couldn’t join. Different experience driving on sand after rain, which helped to climb high dunes though tricky because of the tracks as Thomas mentioned .
