Cresting with the War Machine - Sunday
Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2023 12:11 pm
The morning started with a bang with 6 people dropping out on the day. This meant that we would only have one convoy now. Anyways we all arrived at the meeting point on time. Safety briefing was done in detail as there were a few first time advance drivers. Convoy order was set and then we set off around 230 PM.
Roy - FJ - Lead
Bassem - FJ - Second Lead
Adam - Prado
Bashar - Wrangler
Surya - Prado
Tareq - 4Runner - Sweeper
Marshal Hadi - Out of convoy
Marshal Mustafa - Out of convoy
Marshal Ahmed Adel - Out of convoy
We started of with easy dunes as it was Surya's first advance drive, Bashars and Tareqs second advance drive. As they were driving well we proceeded towards some medium sized dunes. Not long into the drive, Bashar faced some technical difficulties and was escorted back out by Marshal Ahmed and Marshal Hadi. Along the way we took multiple breaks and headed further into the wilderness. After driving till about 430 PM I handed over the lead to Marshal Mustafa who then took over. I was then his second lead.
As all the drivers were driving very well the level increased. We crested a lot more and had multiple switches before making our way back to the gatch at about 520 PM. Along the way there were a few recoveries for the marshals and myself all of which were done well. At this point Adam, Surya and Tareq decided to call it a day and headed out.
As there was still some sunlight Marshal Ahmed now took over the lead and we headed back into the desert for an expert level, high intensity drive.
Convoy order was Ahmed, followed by Mustafa, followed by Hadi, Followed by Bassem and myself as sweeper. We found some amazing bowls and high dunes that we crested and side switched on. Apart from Ahmed who made it on the first attempt all the rest of us needed multiple attempts to get get across.
We drove till the sun set completely and came out back onto the gatch around 630 PM.
All in all Surya, Tareq, Bashar and Adam drove very well. They showed good control of their cars and knew exactly when to turn down and ask for an alternate track if they didnt feel comfortable.
Thank you to Marshal Hadi for being my supporting marshal.
Thank you Marshal Mustafa for doing a part lead and making us have some amazing cresting and switching. I look forward to your videos and Insta tagging
Thank you Marshal Ahmed for supporting and taking us an the action packed drive at the end.
I look forward to your videos and your Insta tagging too
It was a great day and will definitely be remembered for the gradual levels of increment throughout the day.
Look forward to seeing you all in the sand next time.![Bye Bye :bye2:](./images/smilies/bye2.gif)
