Almost the perfect newbie trip. Everyone arrived on time and prepared our cars with the old times helping out the newbies. After a detailed safety briefing we cruised around on the dunes close to the tarmac to warm up and had our first recovery on the very soft sand of Razeen. We practiced some straight crests and challenging dune climbs with lost of 2nd tries before dropping to the sabkha and driving deep inside to meet up with the advance group. We practiced some more straight crests and had a few more stucks and recoveries before joining the advanced drivers and watching them play around in Zak's Bowl. On the way back to the sabkha we had to cross a small patch of dunes but by 10 am the sand was getting soft and we had few too many stucks and recoveries that delayed us to get back to the exit on time. Everyone did very well and all of the more experienced newbie drivers (Christina, Alex, Laurent, Janko) played a good support role.

Well done to Christian Alex and Francois for managing the convoy well and taking turns guide everyone through. Communication was really good.

It was a very fun drive, full of action, with some tricky parts in the soft sands. I am happy to have had plenty of opportunities to practive recovery
