Advance in Bu tais

We had a few of the drivers planning to join who had to drop out, the convoy met at the meeting point where Chris had spent the night. the convoy consisted of:

cmj1388 (part lead/sweep)
Mhamidi001 (part lead/sweep)
VGSears (part lead/sweep)
With the support of EMDoc and Mustafa as the marshals on the drive.

This left us with no Advance and only Experts and Marshals on the drive. We started out with Michael leading the convoy from the meeting point to try out a few nearby dune faces, unfortunately a lot of bushes and barb wire stopped us from having too much fun here near Star Dune. Michael then passed the lead and I started us off heading towards Bu Tais Trees, pace was good and enjoyable, trying to keep away from the small and technical dunes to the south. After 45 minutes the lead switched to Maher who took us to Bu Tais Trees where we attempted the dune from various angles. From this point Chris took the convey back to the gatch and up to Bu Tais Gate.

With a few second tries and a recovery the overall convoy did well in the beautiful weather we had, looking forward to winter and some camping sessions. Once again thank you to Mustafa for joining us in Abu Dhabi it was great to see you out of Badayer and thank you for Michael for organising.

Lovely day out. Good weather, clean sand and 3 great leads from Vaughn, Maher and Chris, topped off with a visit from guest marshal Mustapha from Dubai.

A Beautiful night spend under stars to wake up for a pleasant morning drive …. Happy to see Marshall Mustafa who drove for 2.30 hrs for this drive …. we started mellow ….Appreciate Marshall Michael who gave us three the opportunity to lead …. Vaun took us through some interesting track and followed by Maher into heights of Butais and finally into trees … Enjoyed following them both…

I did a quick short drive started from trees to Gatch road and ended the drive by 9.30 at Butais gate…

It’s always good to sleep under stars , wake up watching the setting moon and rising sun…
