New Explorers in town; Intermediate 04 November 2023 - Convoy 2

Post by ShaanibMi »

Convoy-2 order:
1. Shaanib - Lead
2. Roberto Landi - Second Lead
3. Edu Marcato
4. Sunaif Povval
5. Michael Ang
6. Erik Moden - Sweeper

Challenging Start: Despite bad weather conditions, everyone managed to arrive at the deflation location on time.

Safety Briefing and Convoy Split: After the safety briefing, the convoy was divided into two. I led the members with Intermediate 4+ driving skills. The plan was to head towards Naqra dune, potentially taking a break there and returning to the BBQ point if time allowed.

Skill-building Activities: The initial part of the drive involved warming up with smaller dunes. We practiced side sloping, ensuring everyone in the convoy felt comfortable with the maneuver. The group continuously engaged in side-sloping from one dune to another, particularly focusing on maintaining good momentum in medium and high dunes.

Break: After approximately 2 hours we took a break for refreshments, during which the group discussed maintaining proper distance between cars to avoid the need for second tries.

Exploration and Discovery: After the break, the convoy engaged in more side sloping activities and exploring new areas. A notable discovery during the trip was an abandoned car that was recently rolled over, it had two wheels popped out. We captured some photographs and continued with the drive.

Conclusion: The trip was concluded by heading towards the BBQ point, without encountering any issues. Despite a few instances of second tries, the overall performance of the group was commendable, especially in developing slide slope skills in high dunes. It was a great experience for everyone involved while exploring the terrain.

Thanks to all the members for joining the trip, and a special thanks to Reji for involving me to offer support. Wishing you all the best for your future desert adventures! Take care.
