Razeen Newbie Convoy

After Zak split the convoy, we conducted the safety briefing and commenced the drive at 7:45. Starting with a warm-up on small to medium crests, we gauged the drivers' confidence. As we gained confidence, we progressed to higher dunes with steep drops, guided by Rob from the top. Despite a few getting stuck, everyone did well controlling their vehicles during the descent.

Taking a brief break for chitchat, we enjoyed watching the marching camels . We then continued our drive into the technical part of the area, incorporating a fast-paced phase. All drivers skillfully controlled their vehicle speed and power on softer sand and twisted tracks.

Approximately 30 minutes before concluding the trip, we encountered an issue with one car whose gear got stuck and couldn't start. The team, especially Alex and Rustam's copilot, handled and fixed it efficiently.

In summary, we faced only a few challenges, including a couple of second tries and a few vehicles getting stuck, all skillfully managed by Rob and Janko.

I extend my gratitude to Zak for organizing this trip in the pristine and fresh dunes of Razeen, and for entrusting me with leading this Newbie convoy. Special thanks to Alex for being a solid second lead, Janko for a reliable sweep and of course Rob for supporting this convoy.

Thanks Ian for leading and guiding this group of drivers this morning so responsibly and passionately.

Another great drive with some technical and challenging dunes to traverse. The skills displayed by all were top notch during some technical manoeuvres. It’s always great to bump into fellow AD 4x4 convoys during the drive as our paths briefly crossed over half way during the drive.

Thanks to Rob for fantastic support during second tries and stuck situations and a special mention to Janko for doing an awesome job supporting as sweeper and assisting in a few recoveries during the day.

Finally a massive shout out to Alex and Max for the way they were able to resolve the gear issue on the “car with the stuck gear”. In what seemed like an impossible situation to get out of (possibly resigning ourselves to calling for a recovery vehicle) their relentless “never say no” attitude completely resolved the issue. During those 30 minutes they took apart the entire gear box, fixed it, and put it together again as if it had never been opened. I am mind blown with their endeavour and skills!! Amazing. You guys have a second calling! I will be your first customer for sure .

A very enjoyable drive with a great group of drivers in a lovely area.

Ian gave us a great track to follow providing plenty of learning opportunities along the way in controlling the car in the sand.

Where we had second tries and stucks, all listened to instructions and guidance where we took our time to talk through the recovery before putting into practice. We sometimes encounter mechanical issues when in the sand and it was great to see the patience and resourcefulness of the team in assisting in getting Adil’s vehicle moving again which had suffered a gear selector problem. Well done.
