Shoeib to Badayer Express (DXB-Int)
Posted: Sun Jan 07, 2024 5:08 pm
We met at Shoeib meeting point at around 8-8:10am. All drivers showed up on time and thank you again for that. After a detailed briefing/setting the convoy order, we hit the dunes around 8:30.
Convoy order:
SandSailor (Lead - Emre)
mihir6066 (2nd Lead - Dharmendra - Adv)
rajeshas74 (Rajesh - Int)
PradeepMohan (Pradeep - Int)
Eddyaljed (Eddy - Int)
DrewRichardson (Drew - Adv)
Warmup was with some side sloping at the higher dunes at the start and then the tech area until the next set of higher dunes where we practiced different techniques. Only one stuck which was a good opp to discuss why and practice snatch recovery executed swiftly by Drew. As all drivers got used to their cars and started getting ready for the rest of the trip, we increased the pace steadily. Despite the tracks and heavy traffic -perhaps one of the most crowded days I have seen- we managed to push our limits and achieved steady flow at a good speed as everyone kept up. We practiced straight cresting, decends, climbs, side sloping, bowl entry/exit and some basic cresting. Managed to get to the top of all mid-high sized dunes without a major problem. Only a couple of 2nd tries but no stucks. As we got closer to Badayer, traffic increased but we kept our pace. The only unfortunate event was that one of the passengers suffered from motion sickness as we got closer to the shops, but we managed to finish at around 11:15 with a lot of smiles.
Pradeep and Rajesh, this was the first time we drove together but good solid drive and well done with the pace. Eddy, you are a good driver and getting more comfortable with my style every drive, I can see you are enjoying as well. Also thanks for the feedback. Yes, the chit chats during breaks and experiences we share are all an integral part of the drives, help us learn from each other and part of the club culture. An AD4x4 drive is never only a drive . Last but not the least, thanks to Drew and Dharmendra for the great 2nd Lead ansdSweep, pleasure to drive with you guys.
Hope you all enjoyed as much as I did and see u soon again on anther episode of SandSailing…
