Thanks, Michael, for organizing this amazing trip. Thanks, Chris, for coming and supporting all of us and the wonderful pictures.
We all met at the Bu tais gate on-time, deflated and Michael gave a detailed safety briefing, assigned radio Freq, and established convoy order. Since we had such a large number, we divided into two convoys but decided to follow the same track a few minutes apart. Michale took the less experienced and Chris and I took the more experienced drivers.
Convoy order:
EmDoc***** JK Lead
Benn1969*JL 2nd lead
edumarcato**JLU
vpuiul**4runner
Iyadbtadini**Raptor
Noob2020***FJ sweeper
Convoy2
Dirtdiver****4Runner Lead
suryasingh***Prado 2nd lead
dintojoseph***Xterra
vipinmpd08***JK
Calvink888***JKU Sweeper
CMJ1388**** Support
After our radio check Michael led us all down the gatch road and into the Dunes. After a nice warm up and practicing our skills on several nice sized dunes we took a break at the tree dunes. It was decided that my convoy would move to the front with Convoy 1 following us. We made our way east through some technical areas, some nice areas where we could side slope both sides maintaining a nice flow, we even crossed a couple of flat places before reaching some nice dunes and bowls where everyone practiced their skills. We had a few second tries, one stuck vehicle and one sick passenger. Everyone was doing a great job maintaining control of their vehicles for the most part. We managed to reach the Inflation point on time with everyone safe and happy.
It was a wonderful morning with great company. Thanks, Iyad for the Cinamon tea. Thanks, Arthur, for a solid job as sweeping, Nick for taking care of the only recover quickly and safely, and John and Suyaveer for solid 2nd leads. Thanks, Chris for his support and keeping an eye on everyone.
Thanks again Michael for arranging this wonderful trip and allowing me to lead.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in the sand again soon. Hope everyone can make Liwa next weekend.
Cheers,
Tim
