Yallah Liwa - All Levels (intermediate/ADV101)

Thanks Amr, for organizing this wonderful trip. Thanks for all the Marshals and explorers for the support.

What was supposed to be an Intermediate trip ended up being an ADV101 since we only had one intermediate and he is ready for upgrade. Michael gave the safety briefing and established convoy order. We did our radio checks and left the camp around 9am headed east. Michael selected an exciting track taking us through the lovely sands of eastern Liwa. We had side slopes, steep descents, straight crest, bowl entry and exit, a few side crest, a winch and snatch recovery, and had to re attach a loose exhaust pipe all before reaching the Saudi border at noon. After a short photo break at the border, we swapped order and Chris took the lead heading back northwest towards camp. Chris picked a nice track climbing back up and over the dunes with several side slopes mixed with straight crest. Halfway back we swapped order again and I took the lead taking us the rest of the way back to camp. I picked a technical rout over the dunes full of soft sand with a few side slopes, straight crest, and steep descents. We arrived back at camp a little after 2pm. We were the first convoy back and we decided to get a head start on our way back home. John did a great job controlling his vehicle and proved he is ready for the next level. Thanks Michale, for leading us to the border on such a beautiful track filled with a nice variety of obstacles. Thanks Khaiwi, for keeping a watchful eye on us and ensuring everyone was playing safe. Thanks Chris, for a nice track and great job sweeping. Congraluations John for your upcoming promotion.

Thanks to all that came out for camping and the drive today. It was an excellent start to the weekend. Looking forward to seeing everyone back in the sands again soon.

Good luck to all three AD4x4 teams participation next weekend in The Rahal Desert fun.

Liwa is a special place. This weekend was no different. A marvelous evening chatting, eating and having fun with all who came and a great drive the next day. The trip was described well by Tim so no need to review.

Big thanks to Amr for organising this event, more like it are needed. Great driving from John, you're definitely ready for the next level. Fine part leads by Chris and Tim and good advice from our floating support Khaiwi.

Till next time

Great trip, thank you all for a memorable advance 101, the club support has been excellent in helping me grow and learn as desert driver from ANIT!. Much appreciated.
