Almost Liwa with Khaiwi trip Report

Post by khaiwi »

Dear all,

First apologese for the very late report, I was extremely busy and had no access most of the time.

All the registered bravehearts showed up on time at the meeting point all geared up full with enthusiasm and ready for the adventurous trip. Got our last refuling from Car Museum station and hit the sand few kilometers after al Fathya entrance. A total of two Patrols, two FJs and three Jeeps.

After deflation and briefing, the fun started from the first few hundred meters with powder soft sand and high temperature, not to underestimate the difficulty level in that area and how tricky are those short dunes.

We were moving slowly due to many stucks wich demonstrated the true teamwork among 4x4 brands, i.e. if a Nissan is stuck the second Nissan has to comply, then when FJ gets stuck the second follows and so on, it was real fun, though lots of waiting. At the end I felt the jealousy from the members on this trip and had to do a demonstration of how Liwa-Rubicon can get stuck, I disabled the Swaybar disconnect and and went over a ditch hehehehehe   , with some hand push and jumping on the side steps, was able to recover.

Even when we hit the area with long stretches of flat sands the sand was extremely soft and requires driving at high speed to avoid getting sunck in the flat sand.....The supposidly lunch break was taken very late about 5:30pm almost 10km away from the tarmac. We made our stop a bit short just to catch our breath and move out before the dark gets all over the place. Using tracks we drove out to the tarmac which was 5.5 km before Hameem Petrol station. We were all exhausted when inflated the tires heading to the nearest petrol station cause the extra fuel we had was completely used (Imagine what was done during the day !!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D )

I hope you all have had great day and met your expectation.

Another exhaustive trip towards LIWA, looking forward to cooler weather and true LIWA trip with the strongest and toughest drivers only.

Pictures folder will be made now, so all please upload you pics, I will upload mine very soon too.

See you all soon on the great sands of the UAE.

Cheers,

That was really nice trip, I like the team work bit chief :)

Beside my 2 popouts and both my kids were feeling sick all the time, that was excellent and challenging trip

Shouldn't have my kids on this trip with me, was too much for them.

Thanks to all who helped me in my popcorn(s)

Will do it again for sure (not the popcorn of course  )

Thanks Khaiwi for such nice trip!!!
it was good to be again on the sand after nearly 4 months :D :D. it was my first trip with the "green peace" and I should say wooooooow what a difference between a LCruiser and a Jeep TJ! sensation are completly different! I just need to lift it and it will be a perfect car!
It was nice to catch up with you guys, Khaiwi, Maddog, Omar, Rubicon, Lars & mister popcorn (breaveheart).

See you all next week-end

thanks Chief, and team. :okaay:
I really enjoyed this trip, I think for me the combination of getting back out after a too looong summer, new terrain, and a varied bunch made for a good day out. Granted we were very stop/start, and we didn't cover the distance we intended, but I enjoyed it all the same.
A good excercise with a variety of recoveries.
The lunch break came a wee bit late for me, and I have to admit I got a wee bit wobbly there at one point, saved by a sugar fix courtesy of Mr Red Bull and co.

note to self - if I intend to dig in sand and generally faff about on sand dunes, get some food and drink down my fat head sooner!

nice one lads :bravo: looking forward to some photo's (unfortunately left my camera at home  )
