So Rizvi, If you like ! you can have it wash  If you don't like it !!!! do not wash it

Myself, every time I go off road, I do a complete car wash, up side down

Rizvi I have my car washed every week and this also includes engine and underbody I have never had a problem, you know what it is like when you bring home half of the sand you have driven over :) :) .

I don't see a problem as long as you get no water in the electrical system should be fine

Never had a problem, have had full car washes every weekend ever since I've got the FJ. No worries so far.

There are no problem in washing your engine every week as long as you don't have a cone air filter

i agree with desert ghost, new engines tend to be more sensetive to water with all the computer and electronics inside it, air would be the best solution, for old cars say 2000 and below its okay

What desert ghost and Megamoe said is exactly what the guy at the car wash said to me..he said they would do it if i want but they don't recommend it what they do is use air to get rid of sand and dust then wipe it clean..

Interesting points, but I've been doing this since the day I got the FJ, and the car wash people told me nothing.

They do blow out the sand from the engine bay area using an air hose, but they also blow water into the engine area after that.

Haven't had a problem so far.

after 8500 km with the car , no single wash for the engin, this is what Jeepers advised me. am waiting to go to the service after 1500 km and then I believe they will wash it.

Thank you all for your views.

I have not washed the engine of my FJ yet - have been using air to blow out the sand.

I usually use the air blower at the service station and blow out as much sand as i can myself - to make sure the job is good.

I used to get my 3000GT's engine washed once a month - and unfortunately ended up having a lot of problems with the car; so i dont wash the engine anymore (not sure if the car problems had anything to do with washing the engine).

Most ppl say that you should not wash engines of old cars, since the engines already have a lot of wear & tear; the high pressure water can do more damage than good.

For new cars - the fuse box needs to covered with something thats water proof.

anyway, Im just scared to wash my FJ's engine - but the amount of sand in there is ridiculous; so slightly confused.
