The famous LR Bumper search

So I break my rear bumper in the desert for my LR Disco, my fault as I didn,t remove it. Police report completed. Now the saerch begins for a replacement in the UAE. Visit every breaker in Musaffah. One possible asking price 1200 dinks. Viewed it, broken!!!

Karkar kindly checks Sharjah breakers, nothing for 2004 model.

OK off to the dealer. quotes 3865 dinks......I pick myself up and tell him to forget it, I will have one made.

Google LR bumpers....RESULT :D

A dealer in Somerset in England has several, mint condition 50 UK pounds ( 265dinks) DHL shipping from UK to my front door in 7 days = 600 dinks. So for 865 dinks I have an almost brand new bumper arriving from 3500 miles away.

Musaffah dealers and LR dealership eat your heart out. Why can they not just quote reasonable prices. This really is becoming one of the most expensive places in the world.

By the way, sometime the Used parts guys are selling the used part more expensive than the new ones. I was looking for AC ventsfor my car, The used parts guy said 400 Dirhams each. Got it new from the agent for 70 dirhams both

Yeah Andy's guy did a great job but almost double what Macs quote was from the guy in the UK, still was a good deal though. 1500 I think fro 1/8" steel bumper and a perfect fit too.
I'm considering a full set for the slug when the MOI forgets about my quadratec order, tyres, gearbox, possibly wheels spendage. :D

Nice work though Mac, a little research goes a long way mate.

Ahhhh, that pic is good old Mussafah times. Think it was Doc who lost his rear bumper when he tried to follow Chuck up a steep dune while three cars were recovering crazy Mozi and his H3
