Mpenzi, so pleased the date has changed as trip is one we especially want to do. Can you clarify timings, say we leave prompt 3pm Thurs, will we hit Dubai traffic? Are we putting tents up in dark? presume camp Thurs night & Friday night . Wot time would we get back to AD on Saturday. Thanks Mal

Agree with Malpatt, we must please come back before traffic on Saturday - if there is such a thing! The rest I don't mind so much, but i'm sure we will hit traffic on thursday as well, but what to do? Its very far to go on Friday morning and then we get so see nothing...

Emirates Road - Tuesday Traffic issue can be solved!

With regard to the traffic issue , I know another root to RAK that will avoid us passing the Global Village Road and the National Paints where the traffic is.

This root will add some more kilometers and time to the trip, but comparing it to the unknown stops due to traffic jam, it is for sure better.

:bs: Maximum time required to reach RAK is 3 hours and minimum is 2 and 1/2 hours.
(2 hours can be made, if Emirates Road is passable, non stops and speed is always 120 km/h or more)

there is not a lot in Khesad, suggest you take what you need to save time. Why not take a day off work and travel on Thursday morning and back Sat afternoon, then traffic will not be a problem around Dubai. Leaving AD after work on Thursday WILL give you problems around Dubai.

If it has to be Thursday for travel then can give you a route that will be OK (ish) using the new roads that are open around Business Bay. Definately a trip to take your diving or snorkelling gear along on. A good friend of mine runs one of the dive centers in Khesab so if there is enough interest I can speak to Tom and arrange a boat trip. An offroad, underwater, camping weekend???

Hope to come to your meeting today; if not ,please discuss the possibility of picking me up from RAK early Friday. For me it is impossible to travel on Thursday.
