Honestly, I am a new member I attended a trip with a friend because I was hesitated to bring my car, do not know if it is good enough or not. To conclude I loved the trip, next time will try it out with my car and with I WILL BE DRIVING :))
NOTE- Finding it hard to be updated with the details of the next trip, if anyone can help me out with a link or something that would be highly appreciated. Also will a Toyota Prado 2009 V6 4.0l be a good off-roader?

Hello XZV8 and welcome to the club.

A Toyota Prade is a good offroad car and we have some of our Marshals, Experts and Explorers driving Prados here in the club.

To find about our trips, just look for the Newbie trips Forum and you will see all our trips announced there, simply register in any trip you like and follow the announcement instructions.

Hi XZV8 and welcome.

I have been offloading with a Prado 2009 (I still have it) since I arrived in the UAE 8 years ago. I just recently bought a JK but still have the Prado. It is more than capable to take you almost everywhere. What mainly counts are the drivers skills. Do not hesitate to use the Prado you will be impressed by what it can achieve. Have good Fun

Hi everyone :)

Addicted to bikes since ever I brought my first car, a pathfinder, when I came to UAE for the first time in 2008. There, I've discovered off road driving and since then I love it :D
After few years of self light sand and mountain driving in UAE and Oman, I moved to France.
I'm back to UAE since September and very happy to join you to share this amazing hobby and to get the chance to improve my skills.

I'm French, living in Khalifa A with my wife and our 3 years old triplets. My car is a Nissan patrol.

I'm happy to join you on the 16th for my first trip with the club ;)

Olivier.

Hi everybody !

I am a french newcomer in ad4x4. I settled in Abu Dhabi with my family last summer and just started practicing offroad with a couple of sorties at my credit. My family and I really enjoyed them and we'd like to have more fun in the desert while meeting new people !...
Regarding the young kids, are they welcome during the desert trips ? (3 and 5yo as far as I'm concerned)

On the side of the practical aspects :
Where is it possible to find a flag, a radio and a good ratio price/efficiency compressor requested on the trips ?

Thanks a lot !

Looking forward to tame the dunes !

Welcome to the club stef.

Kids are allowed as long as they are in a baby chair or at least buckled up (Seat belt) as per the UAE Rules.

You can find radios at Dragon Mart in Dubai
Flags are available at TJM and Ramy Trading in Mussafah - Both have an AD4x4 Discount

Hi everyone,

Thanks for having me here. I just arrived from France, I'm a newbie to Abu Dhabi & to off roading (unless you count getting stuck in stupidly thick mud a field & having to put the Jeep into 4wd to get out  )

It's household/husband's policy to have at least one 4x4 on the driveway. Apparently, now I am living here, I will learn how to drive off road...
I am happier to walk down a sand dune than drive down it, but then I don't like roller coasters either. We'll see.....

I love Wranglers, owned 2, & can't wait to buy a new one. I currently drive a Lexus GX460 which i love, but it's not got the "Jeep thing" going on.

Useless facts about me....

I'm a housewife, I've never been camping, I can't iron, I love cars (& 4x4's), I have 3 dogs, I'm British, I love coffee yet hate tea. I am going to learn how to drive off-road this year (apparently). I'm here because my husband said - "you gotta start somewhere"...

Welcome to the club Caroline.

You can start by joining one of our ANIT trips (Absolute newbie Instructions Trip). There you will learn the basics of offroading and drive on an easy route.

Trip by trip, you will start sharpening your skills and maybe one day we will say you as one of AD4x4 Marshals.

To find the ANIT trips just go to FORUMS ---> Newbie Trips and look for an announcement for ANIT; Just reply on the trip announcement if it suits you and write your mobile number - follow the instructions in the trip announcement. and enjoy the trip.

And there sometimes passenger seats available on easy drives so you can see what it's all about before dipping your toes in.

I am new member and have done ANIT on 20 Feb but not as driver. Can I join the newbie trip without doing ANIT as driver. If answer is negative, any ANIT planned in Mar?

Agree with the reply from iguana but I still recommend that you do an ANIT drive to see your ability in dealing with your car. Any marshal leading a newbie trip will put in mind that all the members had , at least, one drive in sand which is not the case with you.
Next Friday there will be ANIT in Abu Dhabi run by me or any of our marshals.

Thanks for your frank recommendation. I will join the next ANIT whenever it is planned.
