Snap-shot also could be blocked .. i agree with you we can disable the right click from the gallery .

If right click was disabled, it will be more difficult for members to get there pics, ..or they should contact someone to pm them.
Unless there is something like the "Tag" option on facebook...
just a thought.

Some few thoughts I have about the subject:

1/Disabling right click relies on a script that can be disabling by not allowing your browser to run scripts in the option menu, in addition all modern browsers allows you to drag any content of a web page to your desktop. Or you can simply browse your temporary internet files directory and you will find all the pics viewed on the browser. In other words, it's too much of a headache for nothing, and extremely irritating for "legal" users.

2/Technically, the desert is a public place and thus anyone has the right to take picture, still if a person can be identified on the picture, it can only be used for personal purposes, any commercial use require explicit authorization form the subject (the so called "press release") except for editorial use (report an event, illustrate a press article, use in court as evidence...). I think the club gallery can be easily considered as an event report.

3/A photograph belongs to the person who took it, not the subject, and he/she is free to use it as his/her please. Still I personally think that a photographer should respect the persons he is in interaction with. If someone don't like to be photographed, regardless of being in a public place, the photographer should respect that. If someone ask his photo to be removed from the gallery, that should be done, if he/she asks not to share the pic on some websites, his/her wish should be respected.

4/Finally, when you are in a public place, by definition, you have no privacy. If you don't want something to be known about you don't expose it publicly. Protecting your privacy is first not exposing it!

Boujebba, :iagree: let's make it simple. Nobody has anything to hide (even when going to a trip on a sick leave day ), and atcs have to be assumed.

Thus, some beliefs must be repected in this part of the world, which is the reason of Iguana information. I believe that we are all open minded and that if someone does not want to be on pic, he just has to ask. Nobody will get upset with such a request.

Plus, i have noticed that a lot of pictures which can affect people are anyway not posted on the galery : prof of a very good respect value in the family...

Man keep at it is..... There is no harm ...if no one wants to get picture shot inform the other who has the cameras or through msg by radios... i guess most of the pictures were taken for cars action not personal ones...

Boujebba, I fully agree with your position, so no need for me to re-write what you wrote perfectly clearly.

Just one small extra point:
preventing the right click copy will only make life more difficult for any of us to get the pictures of themselves....So please there is too many interdiction in life, or on web, so do not add an other one that will not prevent anybody with bad intentions to proceed anyway.

Since I am a big publisher on the club gallery, If any woman or ma ask me to remove their own picture for any reason, I will do it. I will do it even if it is because your car is stuck on the top of a dune....

I inform all club members that I will be happy to see any picture of myself stuck in the sand, my pride will not get offended by that

Ok -if I may bring this discussion back to the original post by Iguana

The issue is not the photos published on our website gallery, it is when members take videos during trips and post them (without asking permission) to sites such as YouTube etc, which I am sure you will agree has a far wider public audience than our own gallery does.

And before you ask, yes - it was me who requested this - I have no problem with my photo or that of my lil chief navigator being on our gallery or a friends FaceBook page.
Where I do draw the line is when it goes totally public on a global site - and my reasons here are personal and not for discussion. By the same token, I am sure that there may be wives of our local members on a trip who would also not approve of their photos or videos of them going on Youtube.

Well Said Jax , I don’t like my picture to be posted any where even on the club gallery, I had a bad experience and I don’t want it to happen again. God knows what Photoshop can do these days

Usually I try to avoid snaps but sometimes you can’t evade all & my reasons are personal.

I see that posting pictures on Facebook and personal blogs became a trend .... Please respect the privecy of the others.

I will also request those who does not like their pictures to be posted on Social networks to say it very clear at the begening of the trip or even during the trip to the person who is holding a camera ... Don't smile to the camera and then complain that your pictures were posted on facebook ... It's your right to say NO

I post my pics on FB. And agree with Iguana, if you dont want your pics to appear there, let know in advance. I've also noted that many take pics, promise to share them in any sort of way, remember about it in the report, and then never get back with pics - not so cool

I think the easiest way would be for those who mind having their pictures published to say so in the beginning of the trip or to move from the line of photos. Also. a good possibility would be that people share photos on the gallery first, give members a few days ...if all the members approve then they can share on facebook. I shared couple of photos on my blog and on facebook (I mean its our hobby after all!) but made sure everyone was okay with it including the person who took the photos! And might I say sometimes there are some funny photos ....and no one publishes them on the gallery which shows a great amount of respect towards every member.

For me it is NOT a privacy/publicity issue ... it is just the dislike of establishing other platforms besides our ad4x4 site!
And it is the dislike to upload share ANY information on those clouds/social networks who are privately held and whose owners mostly do their business by selling information to whoever is interested.
I have NO facebook (share everything with everyone ... and let somebody make money with it ) account any more and my linked in is purely professional contacts.
So technically I am missing a lot ad4x4 buzz and comm but gladly the rest!

A good quality photo/video hosting gallery for AD4x4 would be cool to have. Something similar to Picassa by capabilities - ill be glad to share my pics there
