I am thinking of driving to Qatar this Eid Holiday. Any experience there?

Do I cross Saudi Borders?

Do I need to get Visas ready from UAE and an international driving license and approval from the bank to take my car out of the country or it is just like driving to Oman?

Transit visa from saudi embassy, bank clearance to moroor to get the tasfeer certificate and i think you can get qatar visa at the boarder as a GCC resident

I get Qatar visa at the airport every time i travel to Doha for 110 Rials, please double check about the visa on the boarder,

Driving about 360 kilos to Ghowaifat (UAE boarders with Saudi Arabia) you cross the emirates saudi border then you drive to salwa junction which is around 150 kilos then you take right from that junction to qatar boarder, Doha city is about 120 kilos

If you need any help in Doha just let me know Iguana, I have my 2 younger brothers there :D

you do not need to go to embassy for visa, you apply in one of the travel agents in Falah street, you will get a cross visa for 3 days in KSA( in eash direction)
UAE licence is acceptable in all GCC
a letter from the bank to Police Department is needed to take the car out of UAE

Islam,

I have also my step family in Doha. Never tried it... i know it is very complicated to cross each borders... a friend of mine spent 3 days to come back from Doha to Dubai as he was moving, with all export papers etc... he had to sleep in his Jaguar!!!

but let me know, i 'd like to do it once.

For info, the road through KSA is straight and you can go real fast there... but watch out for camels.

enjoy

XOF, I am going this Eid inshallah. The problem is I am going for 3 days only with my wife and kids, so thinking of almost 800KM of driving with crossing Saudi and Qatar borders, will be too much with 2 kids
