Anyone tried argoob.com?

Post by Sherif »

Hi All,

I want to get some basic stuff (snatch strap, shackle, deflator & air compressor) and during online search I found that website argoob.com with relatively good prices and local warehouse in UAE so shipping should be fast but I'd like to get any reviews first if anyone has already tried online shopping from that site.

Thanks & Regards

Thanks Aidy, now the next question :)

How's the quality & reliability of Smittybilt's snatch strap and air compressor? Are they good enough for light use (7-10trips/year)?
They're list on that site for half the price of the ones from ARB with similar specs.

Actually for the snatch strap I would recommend the bushranger ones at Ace Hardware. Tried, tested and kind on both cars during recovery. No idea about smittys. As for the compressor anything would do but for cheap go for Dragon Mall Chinese stuff. They cost 200 and are relatively fast.

Smitty built also known as American off-road is equal to dragon mart. For some things it's a deal, but snatch straps are the most dangerous thing we use out there. That's not the place to go cheap.

Sherif,

This is the best advise i received from all seniors in the group, and it was the best advise ever. Not because its expensive means its good, and not because its cheap means its fake. When you are buying snatch straps/recovery straps/shackles, follow the word of mouth and buy based on peoples advise. The ones that advise you are the ones that have seen accidents happen. I bought a decently priced snatch strap from a place in an exhibition, and it turned out to be a fake. And the one from ace hardware was cheaper but was an original. :) for such items head out to ace hardware and get it from there.

Thanks for the advices guys.
I actually went to ACE first (Mina branch), didn't see a bushranger strap but I did see a bushranger shackle with hitch adapter that should fit my hitch receiver. Maybe I'll have to go and search again for it there otherwise I'll get the ARB one (8000kg, 9m, 20%) also I heard that the ARB E-Z deflator is the best out there..
For the compressor I think I'll go with the smittybilt available online coz I'm too lazy to go from AD to dragon mart just to save 100dhs.

My personal experience.
Cheap compressors goes down by time not usage :) I had 2 or 3 before and non of them last more than 2 months. Then I got the ARB one. Expensive yes but worth it. But not critical equipment.

Strap is nothing to compromise.
What I do is see what experts are using and get the same.

I copied most of Urs' and happy with the set.
The only person I was not able to copy was Gladiator with his 1-2 shisha is ready. 3-4 I'm good to go lol & Adiga with his super home made compressor
