New Guy - No 4x4 (gasp!)

Post by BlurpleXJ »

Hello everyone! Wasn't sure where to put this but I'm a new member and very interested in going out on some sand-driving trips, but.....my XJ is back in the US. I drive a company Yaris over here. I know, I know, it's horrible haha. I'm getting 4x4 withdrawal and hoping I can tag along as a passenger sometimes, maybe even learn something in the process. Is that something yall ever do? Or would I have to rent a jeep to come play? I've got a fair amount of experience back in the US but nothing like the dunes over here.
1998 Blue-purple XJ, stick-shift of course
4.11 D30/C8.25 ARB/OX locked
31s and 3" lift, all the skidplates you could want
4.6L stroker and frame stiffeners on the way...
BUT ITS BACK IN THE US :(

BlurpleXJ. Sign up for one of the newbie trips as passenger. I'm sure one of the supporting marshals will be happy to take you along if space is available. There are options to rent as well, but best to discuss that on the first trip.

Hi Blurple,

Anybody that uses "y'all" in their first post is welcome to ride along with me. My Jeep took the boat ride from the US in August. Are you in Dubai or AD?

Hahaha I can already tell I'm going to like you guys.

XoF and heinz - actually I was drooling over some Dubizzle jeeps recently, but right now doesn't make financial sense :(
Code Red - much appreciate the generous offer, I hope to take you up on it. Fixed my location, I'm in AD.
Scorpionita, Dune Rider, Thom - thanks for the welcome! I look forward to getting to know you folks

AM not out much at the moment (doctors orders) but could be tempted to head out if I had a willing passenger to do all the running around!

Seriously, if you see me sign up for a trip, then for sure my passenger seat is available, so just ping me. Or send me a nudge for any newbie trips.....am currently out of the country but back soon.

Blurple,

I am on a ride outside of Dubai on Friday afternoon. The meeting point is the same as the one for Shadi's ride posted in the Newbie Forum. If you can get up here, you're more than welcome to ride along with me.

Thanks everyone! I am overwhelmed by the welcome.

tillybean - sure man, will do.
scotchyl and Code Red - awesome, would love to tag along with one of yall. I should be able to get up there, as long as I don't have to work this weekend. We are still figuring out that schedule right now... will get back to you before business closes tomorrow.

Ha ha, I second that. We don't have enough y'all's around.

You can join with me anytime. I'll start going out every weekend when my family leaves in 2 weeks.

Brian.
