Sand fly - Leishmaniasis

Hello every body ,

I hope this post found you all well ,I had an experience this week of a "sand fly" bite ,the bite spot started to form a small boil on my left knee cap after this it started to expand with hard touch with inflammation and itchy as hell! The spot got infected ,my knee gone big in size "comparing with the other leg" like a ball hiding the shape of it ,it swelled and started to hold abscess.
After a doctor visit ,he examined ,and told do you ofetnly go camping or fishing activities ? When he knew that I go into the desert he said that is a "sand fly" bite! He was glad that I came a bit early because this bug carries diseases! Such as Leishmaniasis.
It is a parasitic disease caused by a protozoan that initially lives in the sand fly and is transmitted to people through sand fly bites.
No worries since early reporting to a doctor.
I might took too long ,but I got to share this with you guys ,specially for those who go for a night stop in the desert.

What I recommend is :
1-in case happened ,don't hesitate to see a doctor ,because upon my experience I saw that early detection matters in this case.
2-clothing : try to be covered as much as possible ,long sleeves and pants with ankles covered.
3-there a sprays in the pharmacies can be bought even with out a doctor visit. (Google : skin spray for outdoors bugs)
Finally ,check this link below :

Google : sand fly bites and view the pictures so for those who never had this experience will have an idea how it looks like.

Excuse my language I am not a doctor & English was not my native language ,I hope you found the above mentioned useful!
Be safe and be careful my dear AD4x4 family members <3

Kaghadu ,

Thank you Mr. Kaghadu for sharing this with all members, ;)

It looks that you have a very sweet Blood  which forces the Bugs to bite you  as I've been going to Desert for the last 16 years and i never experienced this issue

God bless you and be safe.
