sponsor letter needed to transfer/buy a used car in AUH?

Hi all,

I've recently bought a used car in Dubai and for quickness registered it in my brother's name (he has a Dubai visa) - if I want to change the registration to my name in Abu Dhabi (as per my residency visa), or buy another second hand car in Abu Dhabi and register there, do I need to bring a letter from employer/sponsor or employment certificate?

I've seen this mentioned on a couple of websites but I know it's not required in Dubai and when I called to the government services department of my sponsor mentioned on my passport (AD Media Zone Authority) the member of staff I spoke to didn't know anything about it.

Appreciate any advice as it's easier not to have to request the letter but I don't want to get to Traffic dept to transfer or buy a car and be told there that it is required!

Thanks,
Ray

you just need to have you Emirates ID, Driving Licence, Credit or Payment Card (no more cash in Muroor), but Cash for inspection if needed, valid insurance for the vehicle, and khalas.
