FJ Skid Plate

Quick comments and guidance needed from FJ gurus.

Option 1-

Got in dubizell, in Sharjah some one is selling " LIKe OrIGinal" for 650 for fitting asking 100 needs to go there
Can send it by some how for 50 dhs to Auh. Fitting in Mussafah ??

You should get aluminum one with 8 mm thick and better to have opening for change oil, I am not sure about the one which you mentioned but the price is good if it is 8mm
I got mine from Dubai and very happy with it

New one is costing 1600. Old one is around 800 to 850. The one which Bu Shahid is talking about. Don't drive the FJ without the skid plate.

Desine like original having opening for oil filter but not sure the quality " mm " of Alu.

650 cost + delivery (50) + fitting. Let's say 800. Is it ok.
ARB + Ramy don't have.

If it is like the one comes from the agency then it is less than 5 mm and it is useless and it will bend and will not protect u car properly

Txs Abul Qadir to bring this question, I wanted to ask since long time. I see stock FJs with and without the aluminium piece both in the roads and in our club. And that confuses me...

My understanding is that FJs have a first protection like this, black color... (Is this skid plate as well?)



...and then some have an aluminium piece like this that seems to come on top of the previous... (and ive observed that it bends too easily, + the clearance does not seem great



My configuration has always been the black piece only, without major trouble so far, but would welcome an advise. Is that enough or the two layers are needed?

well....
the black one does not considered as a skid plate and will not protect u car (engine radiator, oil pipes...etc) from getting damaged at desert, it will help on flat roads (normal or gatch) as it will protect it from a small stone or so.
if u need to do some more advance offroading i.e. side crest riding the crests (and some direct hits even in newbie trips) u definitely going to damage u car without proper skid plate.
when u fix the proper skid plate the black one will be removed in order not to lose more clearance, in short the proper protection is to have the black one removed and add proper 8 mm aluminum skid plate with reinforcement for the radiator (C steel channel).

Regarding the thickness of the plate you found on dubizzle Abdul Qadir, you could ask the seller to send you a photo of the side profile of skid plate held beside a ruler showing mm measurement?
