OMAN - Khasab to Dibba

Has anyone tried to drive from Khasab to Dibba? There is an Army checkpoint halfway along which seems to restrict non-nationals to the drive back to Ras Al Khaimah, but is it possible to stay on the road and head to Dibba?

Not allowed unless you are Emirati or Omani. You will get stopped at the check points and asked to turn around. I once got special permission from the Omani Military to go through the check point and head to Khasab because after a night camping in the mountains ( we entered from the check point in Dibba ) the road back to Dibba was closed because rain had turned the wadi trail into a river and was closed, so the only way for us to go back to UAE was through Khasab ( the UAE check-point in Wadi Bih refused to let us back in UAE, so we had no choice to go back to Khassab and go back to UAE from RAK border. In Omani border no problem, once they confirmed our story with the military they totally understood. Took 5 minutes total. Once we got to the UAE border they told us to turn around and go back the way we came from. They refused to let us back in the country because we did not have an exit stamp. Took 2 hours to explain to them and finally a General-Brigadier agreed to let us back in. Not an experience I want to live again.

So, long story short, if you go there fromRAK border, turn around at the military check point and then go back to Khassab and enjoy the scenic drive twice. If you go from Dibba go back out from Dibba. If it looks like it is gonna rain, don't go there at all...

Even for UAE not allowed , it,s Oman arm check point and UAE arm check point don,t go . The peopls who can pass from check point who are staying at the same area and they have farm their only.

Really? Used to be Emiratis and Omanis were allowed ( at least that's what I was told all these years ). Doesn't matter for me, am Canadian so still can't go, again...
