Renewing Car Registration with TJM Steel Bumper

I haven't seen any discussion on this during 2018. Any one knows what are the latest regulations in Abu Dhabi (or Dubai) traffic and licensing departments for renewing car registration with modified front bumper (steel with bulbar, and not fiber glass). I have seen G-wagon coming with stock steel bumper and bullbar. a few other cars also come with steel bumpers.

Can we fix a rubber block in front of the bumper to get it through inspection. And are their any traffic fines for using them?

In AD, metal bumpers are illegal unless it is on the vehicle registration / test approval. As such the police are at liberty to fine you / give points for a breach of this law. Mostly they don’t however metal bumpers do not typically pass test in AD and sticking plastic on it won’t work, they know that.

Remove, test with stock and reset.

Take for special approval at yas and hope the new system is working

Take your chances at test centre

Those are the 3 most obvious solutions to me.

I have downloaded the AD Gov regulations for car mods from ESMA website and they are also not very clear on this.

i registered the metal rubicon bumper (along with lift kit, exhaust and winch) with yas test centre, 400 +vat and then got the certificate for 1,000 plus vat. however the appropriate approval from directorate to police stating that they can accept the certificate, this was April 2018. i would check.
