Is it possible to change settings so that new messages appear first instead of last?

If this happen, peole will read the answers before knowing the main subject

Haha well yes I see your point.. but I've seen it on other online forums as an option - it's especially useful when you have very long threads.

You can easily just click on the last page on the index .. no need to open the thread and then click go though all the naswers

Yes I've been doing that - but very often when clicking on the last page number it tells me that my search resulted in no posts or something like that, so I have to go to the next-to-last page to see the postings.

"The topic or post you requested does not exist"
"No posts exist for this topic"

This only happen in 2 cases:

If you check the box 'display posts from previous' in the bar at the end of threads you should be able to set it so that the last post for each thread shows first.
