How to get rid of the smell in your car?

Post by konradh »

We buy a lot of air freshner to make sure that our car smells nice. It is because a good smelling car adds comfort to you and to your passenger. And it is such an irritating experience when you can’t get rid of the smell no matter what you do. Or is it because you are doing the wrong method and making the problem a lot worse.

* Never use too much soap and water in cleaning the interior of your car. It creates a sour smell that lingers and it’s very difficult to get rid of. It is because smell comes from moisture, it creates mold and mildew. Air moves in a certain way and it moves in car interiors too.

* Avoid food spills in your car. A spilled mustard for example, even if it totally dries could leave a smell in your car because of humidity. If you spilled something on the carpet, do not dilute it with hot soapy water because you only spread the smell over a larger area. And it coats everything in the interior like the dash, seats carpet and everywhere.

* If you need to wash your carpet or foot rags, remove it from the car and use a carpet cleaner, dry it out under the sun and make sure its dry when you put it back inside your car.

* Use a vacuum cleaner to take out the dirt in your car’s interior especially on the carpet.

* Mold and mildew can get into areas such as you air conditioning and can cause a bad smell everytime you turn it on. The best and quick solution to this problem is to mix water with 2-3%chlorine bleach mixture and spray it on your system fan on high and cycle it through different modes. It would deodorize your air conditioning.

Now you can always enjoy a fresh smelling car.
