Found a nice campsite in Liwa a while back...
Since enjoying the desert safely is important, especially in an unforgiving place like Liwa, the great thing about this area is it is not too far from a blacktop road (at most 1.5km and mostly within eyesight) and is near a camel farm too. It is possible to pick a route through the dunes that is relatively straight forward and there are bigger bowls, dips and dunes in the area too if you fancy tougher driving...
Anyway..
1) pass through mezairaa and then head for the tal moreeb/moreeb dune
2) on a downhill at 23 3'17.31'' N 53 46'36.74'' E leave the blacktop road by turning left. You will need to cross a low wire fence, but there is a gap for a camel farm which is visible from the black top road.
3) head for 23 3'11.14'' N 53 47'22.88'' E in a roughly easterly direction. The easiest route is along the base of the very very very large dune on your left hand side. This is a great area to play around in before setting up a campiste as the dunes range from small to as big as you could want. But mainly the blacktop road is near by and so is the camel farm, so in the worst case help might not too far away (but no guarantee of course

4) campsite at 23 3'12.07'' N 53 47'34.96''E. Great for bbq, a few drinks at sunset and watching the stars are great too..the scenery is amazing also.
have fun...
