ok, you need also to add Desertdawg and Fox ;)
I have the Montana, but I still keep the 276 ! I feel better being in the dunes, using the modern
piece with easy operation, but safeguarded against its failure.
In case of financial restriction, swap, but purchase a good compass additionally (I have).
Be prepared then to start a learning curve. Keep the 276 if you feel at ease and have no
additional needs for the time being (e.g. do you need/want Bird's Eye ? Do you want ease in
entering waypoints ? Do you have a need to transmit waypoints from one Montana to another
without typing ?).

I tried reloading the Update last night. It didn't change anything.

I noticed this morning that in addition to losing the "next turn" and "lane assist" features, it also no longer tells me what the speed limit is. All that is info from the City Navigator Map. But the routing and display of the map are unaffected. All of this stuff worked before I loaded the software update Thursday night.

I have all of the tracks and waypoints saved, so I guess my next step is resetting it back to zero and reloading all of the maps.

Update:

I was playing with the GPS at lunch and noticed that all of the maps were now active in all of the profiles. I don't know if they were before the update, but I don't think so. I have been using the City Navigator Map in the "Automotive" profile, and the topo map in the "Hiking Profile."

I reset the "enabled" maps back to that configuration and it didn't change anything. After lunch I got back in the car and the unit took a long time to start up, but now everything seems to be working again. The triangle is centered on the road, my turn-by-turn and lane assist are back, and the speed limit shows up again.

My working theory right now is that the topo map and the City Navigator Map don't play well together, and that it takes a restart to get all of the features back once you untangle them.

DH, you were right about the fix, but I still think the Update is what caused the problem.

I am not sure which maps were enabled in the "automotive" profile before the update, but I am sure that I didn't change them until today. The update either changed which maps were enabled or changed how the maps interact with each other. Either way, the update changed something that caused it to lose accuracy (relative to the map) and functionality.

And it fooled me for a while because the fix didn't take effect immediately when I tried changing the maps. When I tried changing them, it showed different maps on the screen, but didn't fix any of the other problems. I wasn't tech-savvy enough to realize that it needed to reboot in the new combination to fully take effect.

That's OK though. I definitely know more about the Montana now than I did before. Every time I take a beating, I come out of it a little bit smarter. (At least that's what Susanne says when she's throwing things at me.)

Thanks for the help!

Any major update will reset some of your setting or all, in that case the enabled maps, definitely you don't need all of them at once per profile.

After any update, you need to reboot your device, then connect it to the pc and check for new updates, if the new update was NOT installed correctly, it will prompt you to install it again.

Anyway, we always learn ;) I still remember the old 276C CLASSIC problem that the screen went off and nothing is working!!!
The problem is that someone!!! reduced the screen brightness to zero, dahh!!, i bet that more than 75% of 276C owners had this problem at one point or another
