Friday morning Advance 101: 8/11/2019

Post by EmDoc »

Lead: Emdoc (with Testinwork as co-pilot)

Great Advance: V (Ahmed), DSalas (David)

After some no shows, our small party of 3 held a briefing to go over advance driving basics, we decided convoy order with David as sweep and Ahmed sandwiched in the middle and set off on our Advance 101. With Ahmed having only recently got his Hummer v8 we started slow so he could get the feel of his car on the slopes and transitioning the crests. Ahmed soon showed that capabilities as a driver and so we gently increased the pace and started our way through Khazna cresting dune tops at different angles and heights.

After a rest and a chat under the shade of the well known trees on the edge of Sweihan we turned around and headed back to Khatim. With renewed energy and growing confidence we further picked up the pace and crested and sloped, roller-coasting our way back to the inflation point, arriving at the tarmac around 11:20.

Great driving Ahmed, you showed very good control of your vehicle. You were sensible in your approach to the crests and always demonstrated a safety first driving style. Well done indeed. David thanks for good communication at the back, being a solid sweeper and for your short but well handled part lead.

Another good morning in the sand, I look forward to seeing all again soon.

Michael

An excellent and a lot of fun morning trip, where I got the chance to try side cresting for the first time since many years.. Michael’s instructions were just great and right on spot! Thank you for taking the time to talk to me through the safe way to do a side crest! That was essential to refresh my memory!

Hope to see you soon on sand!
