REPORT: Newbie in Sweihan 3/1/2020 AM

Post by Flaghunter »

This trip was organised by Marshall Thomas (tompa-bjorka) but due to 24 signed up vehicles we decided to split the convoys into 2. I took the more experienced newbie group with 5+ newbie drives. We met on time at the Sweihan Wedding Hall and moved to the BBQ point for deflation and briefing, which included basics of side sloping. The group did well so we did end up practicing the basics.

After the briefing we moved towards Nagrah in the following convoy order:
Flaghunter (Michal) - Lead
Medhat - Second Lead
Redbeard (Mikkel)
Mytommi (Thomas)
Udo
Calvink888 (Nick)
Tariqyamani
Rob_W
Cannonbal (Christian) - Sweeper

We reached the big dunes half way from the power lines to Nagrah where we stopped for a break and some playing on a nice side slope. Then we headed back to the BBQ point, reaching at about 1:30pm. We covered 36km, no stucks. All drivers did well and learned a lot. Individual feedback was given throughout as well as after the trip.

Thanks everyone for joining and special thanks to Christian for support.

A nice newbie + drive. Great track and fun everybody did very well and a lot of the newbies learned new skills.

Thanks for Leading Flaghunter, it's always a pleasure

Fantastic trip. Really enjoyed it, had my brothers in the car and they liked the route and tempo.
It definitely had me pushing my abilities and my pajero. I gained valuable experience and a better understanding of how to use my vehicle in the sand.

Thanks Michal and Christian, and Thomas of course for setting this up.

I wasn't able to join the afternoon trip, but I think it's awesome that it was a possibility to go almost directly from one trip to the next. So nice planning there from the AD4x4 marshals.

My passengers and I really enjoyed the trip. Michal and Chris provided us with good challenges and valuable insights. I was pushing my limits and learned a lot about desert driving...

After a nice lunch break at the barbecue point we joined the afternoon trip with Pharaoh and Irfan. The two trips were a perfect match and made a great day out in the desert.

Thanks to all for making this possible
