Schengen Visa (German Embassy)

Post by Ahmed »

Dear AD4x4 Family,

I need to travel to Germany during Eid holidays -- i need to get visa for my wife who holds a Pakistani passport.

My UAE residence visa is from Abu Dhabi but i have been living and working in Dubai.

If anyone out there is working or knows of somebody in the Germany Embassy / German Consulate in Dubai who i can contact for some information and assistance would be a great help.

I need a schengen visa -- port of embarkation will be Germany but have a stop over in Amsterdam for few hours during which i would like to take family for a short tour.I want to know if i need to apply at the german embassy/counsulate or the Dutch embassy/consulate, as i read online that i need to apply at the embassy of my destination.

I have tried calling both the embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate in Dubai but no luck in any response.

If anyone could guide or refer me to someone who knows the right procedures, that would be great!!!

Thanks,
Adeel Ahmed

Hi Ahmed, It's been a long time ...

Applying to Erope Visa (Schengen and UK) are now through an agent company. This is their website
http://de.vfsglobal.ae/

As you have a Dubai Residence Visa, I think as per their website, you need to apply in Dubai ... Call the Agent company, their number is on the website to get more details.

Your Visa should be issued from the Embassy of your first entry, If U have a Schengen issued from Germany, then your first port of entry should be Germany and not Holland .. If U want to enter Holland first, then get your Visa from the Holland agent company ... But make sure that you get a Multiple Entry Visa

You have to apply online for both and take an appointment online This is the only option you have

Schengen Visa (German Embassy)

Post by sanjeev »

Hi Ahmed,
Went on a multi-country Europe holiday last year - the rule is that you need to apply for a visa from the country where your maximum "planned" stay is. For e.g. in a 11 day trip, if you "plan" to stay 6 days in Holland and 5 days in Germany, you can apply for a visa from Dutch embassy and still enter Europe in Germany. the reason for the quotes in "plan" is that all this is relevant only for the visa process and doesn't matter a hoot when you actually travel. So at the time of visa, you can produce "confirmed" bookings that show your "plan", get the visa and then land anywhere in the Schengen area. This makes sense because different countries have widely varying lead times. I remember that the wait time before an appointment at the French consulate was 6 weeks last summer, whereas the complete process to get a Belgian visa took only 3 days (we have Indian passports). After you get the visa, land anywhere and roam freely in the Schengen area. There is no check.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.

Frastow,

Now the rule has changed, you get the visa from the first port of entry embassy. The reason is that they are the country that makes the security check on you, then you can roam around in Europe (Except UK, it needs it's own visa)

OK, looks like I stand corrected, although I did pull off this stunt July of 2011.

Darn, that was a nice loophole :(
