My Jeep experience !

Post by BAHA »

Was happily planning to start the season in a wrangler ( just to see what is it about) and as usual, all plans goes in wayyy different direction, I have lost the budget because of a stupid accident and had to quickly compensate the shortage and ended up with fairly good 4.0 WJ on a very good deal ( learning the terminology lol) basically to serve house needs.
BUT I have to admit ( and this is my very first time ever in a jeep) I'm extremely impressed with the build of these cars. Brilliant design in every detail specially practicality wise that till now I have no comment of " they should have done this or that, or like this ...." In addition to the "fun part" that it really drives like a carting toy.

Shortly after, I m expected to make it up for my brother in law for "canceling his car :p " to get something he wont regret. And nothing is better than 5.7 HEMI to make you regret the time you wasted driving nonsense Japanese thingis, and there it was : Image

Indeed.

if you want to offroad in a 5.7 Hemi, then make sure you get a WK 2005-2007. The later models have a slightly different front bumper ... not much aftermarket alternatives for them! (and you want a proper protection for the front nose)

oh ... and GCC limited models have the full set of skid plates ... from factory ... US models not necessarily ;)

... and make sure you get a vehicle which was NOT flashed with the dreaded N23 FDCM crap recall! 4lo gets deactivated on 80% of the flashed cars :( (you can check yourself before buying: if you switch to 4lo and get the failure message "service 4wd system" in the dash display, then you most likely got a N23 virus infested vehicle ... avoid if you want 4lo available!)
and btw ... the N23 crap affects XKs (commanders) as well.

I got no doubts about the hemi. It is 05 GCC limited ( not aware of the n23 thing. Need to check)

Not much sure about the 4.0 v6 though, if she can make it out there

the 6 in line of the WJ is underpowered... The V6 of the WK is even more as the car is heavier.

the WJ with the V8 high output is giving 265 hp for 1826kg... power weight ratio is 6.89 hp/kg
the Hemi on the WK is giving 322 for 2150kg... power weight ratio is 6.59 hp/kg

the winner is the V8 HO of the WJ !!!

add to this the clearance on the WJ is much better than the WK... conclusion is do not spend 10k more to get a WK HEMI, go for the WJ V8 HO.

:p
