In summary, get a land cruiser, chop out the rear doors and middle seat, weld the front seats and trunk back together, take off the roof and fit a bikini top and some mopar stickers and you're sorted

Hey, some people spend a lot of money for the opportunity to drink coffee in the lounge. :)

Welcome to UAE and to AD4x4.

I am a JKU owner (Wrangler 4 doors) - My wife drives a Pajero (3.8L) - I have tried almost all the available 4WDs. So let me tell you what I personally feel.

The Wrangler is a great car in the desert - not too comfortable in the city specially if you drive for more than 30 minutes every day and a car that you cannot relay on to be your only car specially if you go heavy offroading.

The Wrangler pushes you over the limits, and for this, you will definitely damage something in the week end ;)

Pajero - I hate it, my wife love it - I say it's a good cheap bus - you get what you paid for - a brand new 7 seater 3.8L Engine, leather seats, power seats big sun roof, very spacious, diff locks, very very low maintenance cost and reliable car for AED 120K brand new only - Just do the calculation and you will see that you are buying a very cheap car - and you will get a very cheap quality

FJ Cruiser is good if you have 2 little kids (Less than 5 years old) - there are several complains about the blind spots and center of gravity (The car known to flip over easy) - But otherwise the car is good.

Land Cruiser - Good on road and offroad - but buy the V8 which is too expensive

A Used Nissan Patrol will also be good - depends on your budget.

X Terra is the best option that meets your requirements. Buy the offroad package.

Prado - Too quite for an offroader - Very comfy - you will not feel that you are offroading.

Fortuner - a pick up with 2 raws of seats at the back

At the end buy any car you like - and we will teach you how to drive it in the desert - depends on your budget - Any 4x4 will go offroad and you will end up buying a Jeep as a toy to play with
Men don't get older, toys get more expensive

My two pennies worth; I have a 2014 JKU which is exceptional in the desert, I recently had a 2006 TJ which was also very good, but was limited for space (hence upgrading to JKU). The Pentastar is (I believe) probably the best engine available, notwithstanding (some of) the V8s out there. I have friends with every other model you mention - The X Terra is very capable, the FJ speaks for itself and the Prado will lose a few pounds of plastic after a short time in the desert. I also have a Grand Cherokee WK2 V8 Hemi, which works well BUT has too much plastic and electronic wizardry to use regularly in the sand. As mentioned by Gladiator, it is a lifestyle choice, buy two - one with your heart and one with your head. Jeep all the way for me! Enjoy the choosing and testing!
