Compressor fitting with a small tank

Post by Abdul Qadir »

Hey friends,

I am thinking of a compressor setup in the car with additional small tank & some hose setup, if any one can help where to do this please. Further more I have new bushranger compressor wants to use it for the same.

This was my solution based on a ARB portable compressor:

I cut the cable at about six inches from box and then used these connectors.

I the put connectors on the compressor / car wiring feed / crocodile leads.

This gives me the option to use the compressor in portable mode or wired in mode. The compressor is secured to the floor behind the driver's seat.

Cable:

My ARB draws 23 amps under load. I have used 4 meters 4.5mm2 cable which give a volt drop off 0.75v. That is if the battery is at 12V then with the compressor drawing 23 amp, I have 11.25 volts at the compressor.

I have used a 40A fuse (near the battery as possible) and a good quality 40A relay.

Here is the cct:

As to having a tank - is it really worth it? Unless it is HUGE it will be done for after the first tire. Time to move from one tire to the next won't be enough to have topped up tank to any useful degree.

Hope this helps.

A tank is so small that makes it useless. It is better to use a high output air compressor.
