Nissan Xterra Off Road Light Mounting and Wiring

Post by Panzer4x4 »

Good morning AD4x4 Family!

I have a few questions regarding off road light mounting, and wiring. I currently have some KC lights which I intend on mounting to my aftermarket roof rack basket. my question is, when I took the lights off my old vehicle the agreement was that I would leave the wiring and just take the lights. What this means is that I no longer have the wiring harnesses. Below are a few questions for you guys:

1 - Is there a reliable shop in AUH that can building me a wiring harness for the lights and install them?
2 - Where can I get a KC Wiring harness in the UAE if option one is not feasible?
2 - Can anyone recommend the path to take to run the wiring to the lights on the roof of an xterra that doesn't involve cutting holes in the vehicle?

Thanks in advance Team for the info.

In an Xterra is not easy to get wires to roof
Below are the options :

# from engine to cabin through rubber driver side,
Then underneath the dash to the door pillar then out
to the roof. Downside : bit of wind noise and big possibility of water leak

# same route to cabin, underneath dash then to the channels below
Doors then to trunk then through the oem harness to upper trunk door Then out to roof.
Downsides, too much wires inside the car which require thicker wires
And more safety fuses and relays

# from engine bay to the side of the front wind shield from
Underneath the hood then to roof (similar to what I've done)
Downside: need kind of custom steel "hooks" to attach wires
To the side rubber of front windshield

Good luck

Thanks Jalal,

I have had a very difficult time trying to figure out a way to get the wiring to the roof, and I am glad to see that I have not over looked something simple. Is there any chance that you can whatsapp me a few pictures of how you attached the wiring to the windscreen? or can you recommend a shop that can do a turnkey solution and get the wiring harness and lights installed.

Thanks again.

Yes you can get the wire in the roof I have done it to my xterra

Very simple just remove one of the rack screw and you will get the hole to get wire in to the car

If you need to see my car setup you can view the car in mussafah front of western motors from 8 to 5

I have a 31" inches led bar on the roof of my XTerra. Wiring was not a problem at all, coming from the battery and passing along the upper part of the passenger door until the roof. Any auto electrician in Musaffah can do it.

I dont think it easy task for Xterra roof wiring. But based on my experience I would like to give some suggestion to you. It might help!!

Try from cabin to directly from engine with the help of shield or rubber coating.
Check if possible with dash with little drilling right at the corner of steering.

Their is possibility for water leaking inside the cabin, but i think this is the one way to accomplish this.
Rest I will suggest you raise your doubt with some local communities or group or you can join some interesting group on facebook for quick and fast reply.

Better you go to carnity because they have dedicated stuffed and enthusiast for each car make or brand.
Check and try. I will check with some of my garage friend to assist in this situation. Might be they have one direct number to speak to and get solution.
I wish you success.

Great day.
