Those engines rev up to 19000 RPM. Due to only ( now ) 2.4 litre they do not sound like V8, but they are.WildFire wrote:Too bad that such engine is not designed to last.
Wondering how much RPM does it have ......It sounds like a bike 8) ... But why
Why it does not sound like a V8
In the 1970 / 80 they drove 1.5 Litre engines Turbocharged with some of them 1300 HP.
Here some more

F1 engines have a flat plane crankshaft that helps the engine rev higher, but that means the firing order has to be every 180 degrees in a V8 instead of the usual 90 degrees. The firing order of a 4 cylinder engine is also every 180 degrees, and that's why an F1 engine sounds more like a super high-revving four instead of a V8.
